06 / COLOUR IN THE WORLD

From observation to composition.

A landscape, a façade and a still life offer different kinds of colour relationships. Isolate a few colours and you begin to notice how much of the atmosphere comes from their placement.

These are original, stylised studies rather than samples from photographs or historic paintings. Change the scene and palette independently. Then shift the balance: a palette only becomes a composition when you give it form.

Experiment 006 / Your turn to look

A palette finds its place.

Choose a scene and a palette independently. Move the horizon or division to change how much space the colours occupy.

Landscape / Atlantic — an original illustrative study.

THE PRINCIPLE

Bring your seeing into the world.

Take a colour notebook on your next walk. Record a dominant field, a supporting colour and a small surprise. Reconstruct their relationships, not just their names.
